Key facts
In Austria, situational winter tire requirements apply from November 1 to April 15. Winter tires or all-season tires with the Alpine symbol (3PMSF) must be mounted in winter conditions (snow, slush, ice). Since October 2024, the Alpine symbol (3PMSF) is mandatory – the M+S marking alone is no longer sufficient. Minimum tread depth: 4 mm for radial tires, 5 mm for diagonal tires. Violations can result in fines between 35 and 5,000 Euros (§ 102 KFG). This information may change - check current regulations.
